The Beginnings...

1

As members of a successful Franchise company of ten years standing and experience in the industry, we have identified an area where there is little choice and alternative, something we wanted to rectify.

2

The AFA was the collective idea of Gordon Blood and Craig Brittain, who came together by chance as Franchisors.

3

Built on Ethical Franchising and very clear Values & Principles, the AFA developed into a very real alternative Franchise Association.

4

Along with a very supportive team behind him, Craig launched the AFA in January 2012.

Craig Brittain - Managing Director

Craig has been involved with the AFA from the beginning.  Craig comes from an entirely successful career as a Commercial Manager, with over 20 years industry experience, along with running and owning his own enterprises. He brings to the franchise community additional experience gained from his family business, franchising for over twenty years.

Showing signs of business acumen, Craig soon established himself as a high performing manager with Marks & Spencer reaching the role of Regional Manager with operational responsibility for around £500 million pounds per year, shortly before he took his post within The Royal Household.

In 2001 Craig become the first Commercial Manager of the Royal Household working for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Privy Purse.  Progressing to become a Senior Official within the Royal Household, Craig designed, commissioned and operated the Windsor Farm Shop, becoming a key member of the National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association.  Reporting privately to members of The Royal Family, Craig also worked alongside associates from Coutts, Deloitte, and KPMG.

Following a successful period within the Royal Household, Craig joined the service of Sir Anthony Bamford (Chairman of JCB) where he operated under the trading name of Daylesford Organic.  Developing the retail division, including internet sales and exclusive dining, Daylesford Organic have now grown to become a major brand within its sector with concessions in many exclusive area’s including Selfridges London.

Having established a successful and varied career Craig decided that the time was right to give something back to the franchise industry...
