Our members BBX are promoting Sparetember – Last year they raised an amazing £45,000 for charity!

The BBX community takes pride in encouraging many business like-minded individuals to achieve their goals, and so, we are running “Sparetember” again due to much success of last year, to help out charities by trading what we know best.

BBX bring business and charities together to maintain an active CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) program. We believe that charities can utilise spare capacity in business to improve the world.

Any business or corporation that has a commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should easily identify the benefits of becoming a BBX Angel as it is a cost effective way to increase the support they are able to give to charities.

John Attridge, CEO of BBXUK, commented: “We are a community at BBXUK and this initiative was launched by our team as we wanted to give back and support charities that support us. We are so delighted that so many businesses got involved and donated goods and services through the platform to charities who need the support.

“It’s been great to see such a great response for the first ever Sparetember and we hope to make it an annual campaign.”

By being able to source goods and services through Sparetember, charities can now offset some of their cash costs to focus and invest in their worthy projects.

Charities were able to source supplies and services they need from the platform such as marketing support, infrastructure for events, accounting and finance support, PR services and office supplies.

A total of 18 charities were involved in Sparetember and benefited from the cause including Diverse Abilities, Julia’s House and NSPCC. In total, 31 businesses from across the UK donated goods and services through the platform.

Paul Cox, Managing Director of Shark Trust said:“As well as funding for all the good work they do, all charities have to pay for the basic overhead costs of running a business. The Sparetember initiative from BBX is a great way for other businesses to help.

“By donating unused resources, charities can free up more cash to dedicate to their core mission. That’s a great way to give support for a cause outside of making physical donations.

“It’s great to see so many good causes, including our own, benefitting from the generosity of BBX members.”
